Although he took office on July 1, it was not until last Friday that the Norwegian cod farmer Ode announced it had strengthened its executive management team with the addition of Kristian Framstad as its new CFO.

As mentioned, Framstad comes to Ode from the Norwegian seafood handling, processing and cooling specialist MMC First Process, where he has held the position of Chief Financial Officer for the past four years.

Ode's new CFO holds a Master's degree in Business and Economics and is a State Authorized Public Accountant. In addition, he brings more than 25 years of business experience, including senior positions at EY, Inmarsat, and Stokke.

Interestingly, the Norwegian children's furniture manufacturer is the company from which Kenneth Schaug-Pettersen, his predecessor as CFO at Ode, left as Senior Finance Director, and has returned now as Chief Financial Officer.

An important asset for Ode's continued growth

As Ode's CFO, Kristian Framstad will have primary responsibility for the company's financial management and planning. Going forward, he will also lead efforts to ensure an efficient capital structure to facilitate the company's continued growth.

"We are very pleased to have Kristian on the team. He has extensive and diverse industry experience and will be an important asset for us as we continue to grow," said CEO Ola Kvalheim, commenting on the appointment.

Ode, which began the year with the approval of a new farming site, its seventh after securing its sixth shortly before in December 2024, announced in May 2025 that the world's first commercial deep farming cod operation is now underway, having teamed up with AKVA Group to install submersible pens to enhance fish welfare and optimise production.

In the last five years, the young company has built a fully integrated value chain for cod farming, which extends from hatchery to consumer-packaged products. Last year, it took a definitive step forward with the acquisition of the Vartdal processing plant, previously owned by Måsøval, and was further strengthened with the addition of the Ronja Ode, the world's first wellboat dedicated to cod, resulting from the partnership between the Norwegian cod farmer and wellboat company Sølvtrans.

Kristian Framstad is based in Ålesund, so the new CFO will work closely with both Ode's operational and strategic management to achieve the company's stated goal of becoming a leading seafood company within the next 30 years.
