Aquaculture AI technology firm Tidal has appointed Johan Fredrik Platou as its new Customer Insight Manager, the company has announced.

Platou, who has a background in mechanical and industrial engineering, with experience in safety and reliability consulting in the oil and gas sector, is being brought on board to "strengthen the company’s ability to convert operational data into measurable customer value," Tidal said in its announcement.

In his previous roles, Platou worked with operators on using data to optimise production, improve asset performance and support operational decision-making, working on both engineering projects and live operations, with a focus on system behaviour and performance improvement.

According to Tidal, Platou’s role will involve helping customers turn operational data into actionable insights and measurable business value.

“As aquaculture operations become more complex, turning data into actionable insight is critical,” said Anders Fossþy, Tidal's Country Manager Norway, via a press release. “Johan Fredrik’s experience in data-driven optimization strengthens our ability to deliver measurable results for customers.”

“Tidal has a unique combination of integrated data streams,” Platou said, commenting on his new role. “I really look forward to working closely with customers to translate this into improved daily operations and long-term performance.”

The appointment comes as Tidal continues to extend its operations in Norway, including expanding partnerships with some of Norway's biggest aquaculture players. The company announced earlier this month it is extending its collaboration with Mowi to introduce AI-based fish identification technology into salmon breeding programmes. This came a few days after Tidal announced it is embarking on a partnership with SalMar, focusing on automated feeding, real-time farm intelligence and a new in-pen sealice mitigation system.
