The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food of Spain has announced the allocation of grants for 2025, totaling €550,000, aimed at associative entities within the fishing and aquaculture sectors.

The goal is to promote activities that foster the integration of women in the sector and support research and technological development. Moreover, the grants aim to strengthen the representative role of associations before the Spanish Government, the European Union, and international institutions.

In addition to industry-specific associative entities, legal entities promoting industrial research, technological development, R&D&I projects, or defending the economic and professional interests of women working in the sector are eligible for these grants.

In line with this, the Secretary General for Fisheries, Isabel Artime, presented last month the first edition of the workshop 'Funding Opportunities for the Blue Economy,' which provides attendees with information on the main European and national financial instruments available to promote economic sustainability in the maritime and fishing sectors.

Furthermore, the Spanish government confirmed it will finance changes needed to the national fishing fleet to ensure the maximum number of fishing days in the Mediterranean in 2025.
