The Iceland Ocean Cluster has appointed Heiða Kristín Helgadóttir to assume the CEO role in the summer of 2023. This was announced by Heiða on LinkedIn, in which she added that she had always admired the work being done in the cluster. "[It] is a true pioneer in emphasizing the 100% utilization of seafood and has been instrumental in fostering so many interesting byproduct companies and projects," she said about the cluster.

A brilliant career in political science, three companies founded and always linked to the sea, make her the perfect candidate. She explains that every step has provided her with insights. The politics taught her "the importance of the big picture" and the three companies (Niceland Seafood, Digiphy, and Hausmart) about the seafood retailing and consumer behavior.

Her philosophy is "sea-to-pan" which means transparency and facilities for customers to know where their food comes from and how this is process until they eat it. Moreover, not only is crystal clear her concern, but also a sustainable and productive form of doing things in all that it encompasses the industry, as it is in Hausmart the space for retail.

Besides she describes herself as versatile in every role she has played. "It is safe to say that I'm a generalist that is good at moving forward and pushing people towards success because whether it´s politics or starting a new business it's all about people, communication, and the big picture."
