New changes at Iceland Seafood International (ISI), as announced by the board of directors, now include a new CEO, Ægir Páll Friðbertsson. This position was previously held by Bjarni Ármannsson, who will be stepping down after five years at ISI.
"I'm very pleased to take the helm at Iceland Seafood. I believe the company has a good potential," said Friðbertsson. "I look forward to work with its employees, suppliers and customers to further develop the company."
Among his professional experience, he has worked at several companies, with his most recent role before his new position as the COO at Brim. However, he has extensive experience in the industry, including positions at companies such as CEO of Útgerðarfélag Reykjavíkur for 3 years and CEO of Ísfélag Vestmannaeyja for 9 years.
As evident, Ægir Páll has dedicated a significant part of his professional career to the seafood industry. Regarding his education, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Business from the University of Iceland and a Master's in Finance.
Its former CEO also had some words of thanks and farewell for the company. "I'm very grateful for the opportunity to lead Iceland Seafood for the last almost 5 years. It's been a time of learning for me and characterized by volatile externalities that have at times been challenging. I would like to thank the people I've worked with and the board of Directors in particular for its continued support." Furthermore, he added, "The Iceland Seafood group is a strong entity with a very good potential for profitability and growth going forward."
