Khanh Hoa province has invested around $23.7 million in high-tech marine aquaculture to reach $1 billion in seafood exports by 2025, according to a statement from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
In this way, the relevant authorities aim to boost the development of a sustainable fishing sector and achieve the expansion of 240 hectares of high-tech marine aquaculture by 2029.
Khanh Hoa, a province located in the central part of the country, has an extensive coastline, making it a key area for fishing and aquaculture, particularly in activities such as shellfish farming and seafood production for export.
According to VASEP, this part of the Asian country operates 3,416 fishing vessels, including 633 long-range boats dedicated to catching tuna and other marine species.
Additionally, it is a key seafood processing hub, with 149 facilities for domestic supply and 57 for export. In 2024, Khanh Hoa recorded seafood export earnings of approximately \$850 million, representing an increase of nearly 27%, and accounting for between 35% and 44% of its total export value.
