The international aquaculture trade show AquaFuture Spain kicks off today in Vigo, Galicia, featuring 210 international exhibitors from 26 countries, including 12 companies from China that will participate for the first time in the event.

This year's trade show is predicted to attract more than 8,000 visitors, marking a fourfold increase compared with the first edition held in 2022.

Described as the "largest aquaculture industry event in the south of Europe", the event was previously held in Santiago de Compostela. Due to increased demand, this year's expo has found a new home in a larger venue, the IFEVI exhibition centre, in the important Spanish seafood and fishing industry hub of Vigo – also the venue for one of the largest international fairs in Europe focused on the frozen seafood sector, Conxemar.

The conference programme, which was announced last month, is set to feature eight round table discussions exploring key issues affecting the sector, including sustainability, innovation, legal compliance, technological integration, international expansion, and environment, with a focus on both global trends and local challenges.

The conference also features 30 presentations, with participation of more than 80 international speakers from a variety of companies and organizations, including Alex Group, Laksesystemers, Akva Group, Irta, iArcus, Ciimar, BioMar, Grupo Eurored, Morenot, Kovalus, and Flatlantic.
