Maris Seafood Ltd and Grupo Nuevo Pescanova have agreed to enter into a distribution partnership. Therefore, the UK side of the Danish Sirena Group will unite its "exclusive distribution partnership, bringing global Pescanova seafood excellence to the UK market."
Through a LinkedIn post, Steven Tilston, MD of Maris Seafoods, said: "The agreement has been in conception for some time. It was clear from the outset that our shared ambitions were aligned, and we feel this will be a solid partnership."
"We are excited to see this finally come to fruition and have a variety of clients already keen to see the Pescanova range. We look forward to bringing the Pescanova product portfolio to retail, food service, and e-commerce clients over the coming months," he added.
In November 2023, the negotiations between Abanca and Cooke for the purchase by the Canadian family business of 80% of Nueva Pescanova ended. The owner and buyer were unable to reach an agreement on the price.
Finally, the Spanish bank declared its intention to cease its search for an industrial partner for Nueva Pescanova and to maintain ownership.
