Meanwhile, in China, domestic production of marine ingredients during the first five months of 2025 is estimated to be lower than in the same period of the previous year.
According to IFFO, the Marine Ingredients Organisation, total cumulative fishmeal and fish oil production in March 2025 has increased compared to the same period in 2024.
IFFO figures show global fishmeal production declined by 16%, while fish oil output dropped by 20% in 2023. Meanwhile, China starts 2024 with a slowdown in fishmeal imports.
BioMar and Yield10 Bioscience believe so and have partnered to commercialize a Camelina crop containing enriched levels of EPA and DHA equal to fish oil.
