CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global non-profit organization that manages the world's largest and only environmental disclosure system.
Today's landmark agreement specifically includes marine carbon removal, opening the possibility for seaweed farmers and other aquaculture activities to be eligible for voluntary certification.
The seafood industry group says Norway’s new "environmental flexibility" scheme for aquaculture does not meet Parliament’s demand for a technology-neutral system.
"This is a step in the right direction, but the government should have been far more ambitious," said Robert H. Eriksson, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Business Association, Sjømatbedriftene.
