Shellfish farmer Loch Fyne Oysters achieves Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification, and has begun distributing packs of oysters displaying the ASC ecolabel.
The BRICONS project, funded by the Irish Marine Institute and led by University College Dublin, works on native oyster reef restoration in a bid to boost biodiversity and improve coastal management.
A new collaboration between the University of Aberdeen and oyster aquaculture company NativeAqua will use genetics to build resilience in the declining shellfish species.
The project will trial an innovative method combining oyster reef restoration and the installation of marine infrastructure, such as wind turbines, breakwaters and subsea cables.
