After approving new guidelines, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority has restarted processing applications for setting up cod farming sites that had been stalled since March.
From January to June, landings of fresh cod fell drastically because of quota cuts that also hit frozen cod hard. Only farmed cod grew during this time.
After three consecutive years of growth, the value of Norwegian seafood exports fell by 14% in March, dragged down by a decline in both the currency effect and the export volume of key species.
