SalMar has reported total harvest volumes of 93,200 tonnes for the third quarter of 2025, a significant increase from 60,300 tonnes in the same period last year and up 44% from the previous quarter.

The company released the figures this week in its quarterly operational update, ahead of the full results due in early November.

Growth was led by strong performance in Central Norway, where harvests reached 47,000 tonnes, compared with 38,200 tonnes in the same period last year. Northern Norway also recorded a major increase, reaching 42,500 tonnes, more than double last year’s 18,300 tonnes.

The company reported zero harvest from SalMar Ocean, its offshore farming division, which completed harvests from both of its offshore units during the previous quarter. Meanwhile, the SalMar group's Icelandic business, Icelandic Salmon, contributed 3,800 tonnes, up from 1,800 tonnes a year earlier.

The higher volumes come after a weak second quarter, when SalMar reported lower earnings due to falling salmon prices and downgraded fish quality, particularly in Central Norway. At that time, CEO Frode Arntsen said strong biological performance was laying the foundation for improved volumes and cost reductions in the second half of the year.

The Q3 results appear to support that prediction, with volumes rising in line with the company’s expectations. The substantial increase in Northern Norway likely reflects the integration of Wilsgård AS, which merged with SalMar earlier in 2025, expanding the group’s capacity in the region. The company has previously raised its full-year harvest guidance for 2025 to 298,000 tonnes, an 18% increase compared with 2024.

The full financial results for the third quarter are expected to be released by SalMar on 6 November.
