DLG Benelux, the organizer behind the seaweed industry Seagriculture conferences, has announced the merger of Seagriculture USA and Seagriculture Asia-Pacific into a single international event, Seagriculture World.

The new global platform is intended "to simplify the seaweed industry’s event calendar, strengthen global collaboration, and support innovation around the world," the organization said.

According to DLG Benelux, the decision to merge the events is based on both internal strategic goals and feedback from seaweed industry stakeholders.

The location is yet to be confirmed for the first edition of Seagriculture World, but the organizers have confirmed the format will combine one day of site visits with two days of conference sessions, with the event taking place in a different country each year. The event will also include a trade show, poster presentations, and networking opportunities.

"Our goal is to ensure that seaweed industry leaders have the opportunity to come together in a meaningful way. By creating Seagriculture World, we can explore new regions, highlight emerging developments, and collectively push the industry forward," said Kuno Jacobs, Managing Director of DLG Benelux, in a press release.

Seagriculture EU to continue, with next edition to take place in June

While the USA and Asia-Pacific events will be absorbed into the new global conference, Seagriculture EU will continue as a standalone annual event. Established in 2012, the EU edition has become a consistent platform for the European seaweed industry.

The decision to continue with the standalone European version "reflects the strong foundation and longstanding community that Seagriculture EU has built over more than a decade," the organizers said.

"As the original Seagriculture event, it has become a trusted and recognized forum for the European seaweed sector, offering continuity and a familiar platform for stakeholders across the region and beyond."

The next edition of Seagriculture EU will take place on 17-19 June in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
