This year's edition of AQUAEXPO, which will be held at the Guayaquil Convention Center, in Ecuador, will feature, for the first time, a Sustainability Forum titled 'Race to the Top', organized by the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP).

A total of 35 national and international speakers will participate in four key sections: governance, environment, social aspects, and economics.

Representatives from organizations such as the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will also attend. The Forum will take place on October 22.

"Ecuadorian producers have already demonstrated that it is possible to produce shrimp of the highest quality, safely for people and the environment," emphasized SSP Director Pamela Nath.

"This journey, which we call 'Race to the Top,' has been shaped by commitment, discipline, and strategy, and this is the message we want to convey to the stakeholders in our industry and those from other sectors who will join us during this forum," she added.

SSP and CNA presented during the AQUAEXPO Santa Elena the 'Scale-Up Programme for Shrimp Hatcheries'. This project aimed to promote the sustainable management of shrimp larvae production.

AQUAEXPO 2024

From October 21 to 24, the Guayaquil Convention Center will become the epicenter of global aquaculture. The National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador (CNA) has been organizing this event for three decades.

According to the CNA, AQUAEXPO 2024 will create up to 5,000 jobs, including creatives, designers, carpenters, welders, electricians, painters, and other construction-related trades, as well as hostesses and models.

The latest trends and innovations in the aquaculture sector will be showcased, and topics related to animal health, nutritional strategies, product quality and safety, production process efficiency, adoption of emerging technologies, and shrimp market prospects will be addressed.

This edition will feature 400 stands, with an estimated attendance of more than 10,000 visitors and over 30 international delegations.

Regarding the relevance of these kinds of events, the executive president of CNA, José Antonio Camposano, explained: "The event will serve as a showcase for the shrimp industry and for other Ecuadorian industries facing cross-cutting challenges in areas such as animal welfare and governance."

In July, CNA organized AQUAEXPO 2024 EL ORO where the latest trends and innovations in the aquaculture industry were showcased.
