The 31st edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, the world’s largest and most diverse seafood trade event, kicks off today at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via venue, bringing together a record 2,187 exhibiting companies from 87 countries, and spanning 51,217 net square meters.
The event is expected to generate an economic impact of more than €156 million for the city of Barcelona over its three-day run, from 6-8 May.
This year’s event welcomes several countries and regions who are participating for the first time, including Albania, Egypt, Greenland, Malta, Nigeria, Réunion, and Georgia, and also features national and regional pavilions from organizations such as such as Apex-Brasil, TDAP (Pakistan), ProEcuador, and Spain’s IVACE.
The event is composed of two complementary trade fairs taking place under the same umbrella: Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global.
The Seafood Expo Global 2025 brings together leading suppliers and buyers in seafood, equipment, packaging, and services. Participating companies include Mowi ASA, Lerøy Seafood, AquaChile, Royal Greenland, Nueva Pescanova, and Hilton Foods, among many others.
Meanwhile, Seafood Processing Global, located in Halls 1 and 3, will spotlight the latest technologies in seafood processing, cold chain logistics, hygiene solutions, and aquaculture equipment. Notable exhibitors include Ace Aquatech, BAADER, MULTIVAC, Marel, Maersk, AKVA Group, and Lineage.
“The strong turnout of global seafood companies at this 31st edition highlights the critical need for an international platform where companies from across the industry can connect, build partnerships, do business, explore new products and technologies, and tackle shared challenges and opportunities in-person,” said Wynter Courmont, Vice President, Seafood at event organiser Diversified.
“This year’s edition will promote industry growth by providing in-depth insights and key takeaways for companies during the conference program and through knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities on the event floor.”

The Expo also includes a conference programme with more than 80 international speakers across more than twenty sessions covering topics such as traceability, sustainable packaging, aquaculture practices, global market trends, and decarbonization.
This year's keynote address, "An Uncertain New World" will be delivered on 7 May by Professor Xavier Sala-i-Martín, economist and Columbia University professor, focused on "navigating the new economic uncertainties impacting the global seafood industry and the world at large, from international relations to tariffs and more".
As part of ongoing efforts on sustainability, the event is again partnering with the Barcelona Food Bank to collect surplus seafood donated by exhibitors. Last year’s initiative recovered over 15,600 kg of food for local communities, event organisers Diversified said.
