The Ministry of Production of Peru (Produce), through the National Fisheries Health Agency (Sanipes) and the Faculty of Geological, Mining, and Metallurgical Engineering (FIGMM), signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement on Saturday, October 7th. This agreement will enable the health authority to strengthen its analytical capacity through the contributions of research conducted in the laboratories of this institution.

The primary objective of this agreement is to create new areas and research projects. As explained by Sanipes' Executive President, Víctor Haro Corales, and FIGMM's Dean, Santiago Valverde Espinoza, this collaboration also includes internships and training opportunities for Sanipes' scientific personnel in methodologies within the purview of the academic institution. They will carry out these projects within FIGMM's university facilities in accordance with the available budgetary resources.

Haro Corales emphasized that this agreement will facilitate the joint formulation and execution of research projects of national interest in fisheries and aquaculture fields based on the shared interests of both institutions.

"It will allow us to offer and implement training programs for personnel involved in industrial chemistry techniques, particularly in the context of food safety in the fisheries, aquaculture, and related sectors," stated the official. Undoubtedly, this represents a significant step towards excellence in the seafood sector.

Furthermore, with this agreement, Sanipes adds a third partnership with academic institutions, following agreements with the National University of Santa and the Scientific University of the South, marking a significant milestone in inter-institutional collaboration.
