The Norway-headquartered aquaculture software firm Aquabyte has announced its CEO Steve Tucker will now also assume the role of Board Chair, taking over from Bryton Shang, who founded the company in 2017 and was its CEO until 2024.

In a press release, the company said Shang "completes a leadership transition off the board that empowers Aquabyte to make strategic decisions closer to the market".

Founded in 2017, with offices in Norway, Chile and the USA, Aquabyte specialises in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning into sustainable fish farming practices, particularly for trout and salmon. The company’s technology provides data-driven tools to enhance fish welfare, increase productivity, and promote sustainability.

Tucker, who had previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Aquabyte, took over the role of CEO from Shang in August 2024.

In a LinkedIn post announcing Tucker's new role, Aquabyte said the past year had seen the aquaculture software firm launch several new products as well as grow the business across "multiple" countries.

"With a clear strategic direction and a strong leadership team, Aquabyte remains committed to delivering industry-leading solutions that drive efficiency, sustainability, and improved fish welfare for farmers around the world", the company stated, adding that the Aquabyte team "thanks its customers and partners for their ongoing support".
