NaturalShrimp Incorporated has announced that it has filed its patents in Japan, Thailand, and Australia. These filings mark "a significant step in our commitment to advancing sustainable aquaculture practices and ensuring the future of global seafood production," Biotechnology Aquaculture Company says in a statement.
The US Patent Office awarded NaturalShrimp's patented electrocoagulation technology (nos. 10,163,199 and 11,297,809) for growing high-quality shrimp in aquatic recirculating systems (RAS). This allows its competitive edge in the market and reflects the company's commitment to innovation in the aquaculture industry.
Also, NaturalShrimp has filed for patent protection in the European Patent Convention (EPC). Therefore, it will have the right to operate in over forty European nations, enabling the company to expand into European countries such as Norway and the United Kingdom.
Finally, the company indicated that it endeavors on "collaboration within the aquaculture community and looks forward to working with stakeholders in Japan, Thailand, Australia, and many European area nations to bring these advancements to the forefront of sustainable seafood production."
In 2023, subsidiary NaturalShrimp USA Corporation signed a one-year agreement with Homegrown Shrimp USA, Inc. (HGS) to purchase post-larvae shrimp for stocking at the company's facilities in Webster City, Iowa, and La Coste, Texas. The agreement provides for the delivery of up to 2,000,000 PL per month for twelve months.
