New Zealand King Salmon has a new Chief Commercial Officer, Graeme Tregidga.
Tregidga is currently the General Manager for Sales and was previously Acting CEO from 1 November 2022 until August 4 2023, when new CEO Carl Carrington joined the company.
In his new capacity as CCO, Tregidga will have overall responsibility for Sales, Marketing and Omega Innovations, the company confirmed in a press statement.
Tregidga previously took on the role of Acting CEO at a particularly challenging time for the business. In 2022, NZKS reported a net loss of NZD $73.2 million, having suffered significant fish mortalities due to rising water temperatures at its inshore fish farming locations.
In response to this, the company began looking at offshore aquaculture in cooler waters. In November last year, Tregidga announced the company had received governmental consent to developing open-ocean fish farming.
Announcing the NZKS half-yearly results in September 2023, company chairman Mark Dewdney acknowledged Tregidga as pivotal in steering the company through what he described as "a challenging set of circumstances" over the past year.
NZKS's recently-published half year results indicate the company is recovering well, with a half-yearly net profit for HY24 of NZD $10.6 million, compared to a net loss of NZ $24.5 million in 1HY23, and pro-forma EBITDA of $10.7 million, compared to an EBITDA loss of $12.7 1 million during the same period last year.
"The Board wanted to acknowledge the way Graeme navigated NZKS through a period of immense change and delivered a strong set of results," Dewdney said.
"It is an exciting time for the company; with performance improving, the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Carl Carrington," Dewdney continued, saying that the company is working "to continue to strengthen the resilience of and optimise the existing business, while continuing to develop growth options as part of a strategic and operational reset”.
