The Ministry of Production (Produce) in Peru has granted 106 environmental certifications to investment projects totaling over S /400 million (approximately USD 105.26 million).

Through these certifications, issued by the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture Environmental Affairs (DGAAMPA), the investments will comply with high environmental standards, promoting economic growth that respects the natural environment.

Among these investments, crucial is the transformation of the artisanal fishing docks in Matarani and Ático, promoted by the National Fisheries Development Fund (FONDEPES), with an approximate investment of S/ 40 million (approximately USD 10.53 million).

The modernization of these facilities aims to improve the working conditions and safety of artisanal fishermen while strengthening local fisheries. Additionally, it will promote responsible environmental management along the Peruvian coasts.

Greater confidence and security for investors

Produce now classifies files according to their specialty and complexity, which accelerates approval times and offers greater predictability and legal certainty to investors.

With the support of other organisms, investments can be executed in less time, without compromising environmental standards.

Also, this will generate thousands of jobs across various regions in the country, improving the quality of life for Peruvians, boosting the local economy, and providing a boost to coastal communities with modern fisheries infrastructure.

According to the Environmental Performance Index 2024 (EPI 2024) by the Yale University and Columbia University science centers with the support of the McCall MacBain Foundation, Peru is one of the best fishing performance countries in the world, and the best fishing performance country in South America.
