The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA) advocates for control and traceability standards that seafood products in Spain must meet to promote the recovery of fish consumption.
In line with this action, the Secretary General for Fisheries, Isabel Artime, attended the 25th AECOC Seafood Products Congress, held in Baiona (Galicia), organized by the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors.
The event brought together professionals from the seafood value chain, addressing issues such as strengthening the competitiveness of fisheries and aquaculture products.
Additionally, the need to highlight and raise awareness of the sustainable and health benefits of eating fish was emphasized, as its consumption has particularly declined among the younger population.
A few days ago, MAPA signed an agreement worth €90,000 with the Association of National Fisheries Producer Organizations in Spain, Pesca España, to promote the consumption of fishery products during 2025 and 2026.
For this reason, Artime assured the Ministry's participation in major international fairs, the launch of institutional advertising campaigns, and the signing of collaboration agreements with sector entities as part of the Fish Consumption Promotion Strategy.
