WellFish Tech
The founder and former CEO of Glasgow-based aquaculture biotechnology firm WellFish Tech, Brian Quinn, is now its Chief Science Officer.
In January, the company announced it was hiring former Skretting executive Charlie Granfelt to take on the role of CEO, with Quinn, who is Professor of Ecotoxicology at the University of the West of Scotland, changing his role after more than four years leading the venture.
WellFish Tech was founded by Quinn as a spin-out company from the University in 2019, providing rapid fish health assessment for the aquaculture industry through blood-based clinical chemistry analysis.
Announcing his new role in a LinkedIn Post, Quinn said he is "very much looking forward to working closely with our new CEO Charlie Granfelt".
Originally from Sweden, Granfelt has held various commercial and executive roles related to aquaculture in Norway, including working for aquaculture feed company Skretting from 2009 to 2022.
WellFish Tech has made a variety of new hires over the past few months, including hiring former Norcod CSO Hilde R. Storhaug as its new Norway Director, as well as expanding its team in Canada. Most recently, the company announced it has hired molecular biologist Ye Zhang and data scientist Joseph Marfo Boaheng to join its North American team.
WellFish Tech is headquartered in Paisley, Scotland, with branches in Laksevag, Norway and Prince Edward Island, Canada.
