Aker QRILL Company has signed a contract with Tersan Shipyard to purchase and rebuild a fourth state-of-the-art krill fishing vessel. This project was canceled 18 months ago and its service will start in the third quarter of 2026.

The krill-based ingredient producer, which recently separated from Aker Biomarine, will thus continue the continuous and sustainable supply of feed and raw materials from Antarctic krill.

"Equipped with the latest and most advanced technologies, this vessel will bolster our ambition to maintain our leadership position in the krill industry and ensure access to renewable and sustainable marine raw materials—vital to meet the growing global demand for sustainable marine feed ingredients with excellent nutritional qualities," assured the CEO of Aker QRILL Company Webjørn Barstad.

This contract will strengthen relationships with Norwegian maritime suppliers, and local expertise and innovation. Additionally, Aker QRILL Company will develop the use of alternative fuels.

"Partnering with Aker QRILL Company, the global leader in sustainable krill fishery, aligns perfectly with our vision of innovation and excellence," concluded Tersan Shipyard Vice President Ahmet Paksu.
