BioMar Costa Rica obtains the first country's ASC Feed Certification
BioMar's Costa Rica facility, located in Cañas, Guanacaste, has received ASC certification, which produces feed for shrimp, tilapia, and a variety of marine species.
This distinction strengthens the feed producer's position as a trusted provider of responsible aquafeed in North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Regarding this achievement, Jorge Vargas, BioMar Costa Rica Managing Director, said: "With this certification, we will be able to provide access to ASC-compliant feed in the region and support our customers' efforts to meet the growing demand for sustainable seafood in global markets."
Additionally, ASC Feed Engagement and UK Markets Manager Aisla Jones commented: "It’s fantastic to see BioMar achieve yet another milestone with their feed mill in Costa Rica attaining ASC Feed Certification - the first in the country. This certification ensures farmers now have access to feed that meets the rigorous environmental and social requirements in the ASC Feed Standard, reinforcing transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain to drive aquaculture further towards sustainability."
In October 2024, BioMar's Ecuador achieved the ASC Feed Certification, and BioMar UK became the first feed production facility in the United Kingdom to obtain the same certification, and it was only the second one to achieve it in Europe. Furthermore, one month later, BioMar Chile obtained a month later ASC Feed certification for its three production facilities in the South American country.
