Rangen Aquaculture Nutrition has become the first company in the U.S. to achieve Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Certification for its Buhl feed mill, located in the heart of Idaho's Magic Valley.

From now on, ASC certifies that the feed for freshwater trout, salmon, seriola and cobia, shrimp, and tilapia offered by Rangen is responsibly produced, sustainably sourced, and fully traceable.

"This certification demonstrates a trailblazing step forward in responsible sourcing and production. By embedding sustainability at the very start of the aquaculture value chain, Rangen is helping to build a more transparent and trusted seafood industry for the future," assured Feed Engagement Manager at ASC Aisla Jones.

Moreover, the Director of Aquaculture at Rangen, Carrington Gorman, said: "Demonstrating alignment with the ASC Feed Standard makes Rangen an industry leader for American feed companies, showing we've met the world's strictest standards to deliver an exceptional product that's not only nutritious for animals, but sustainable for the environment."

ASC confirmed that, as of October 31, 2025, certified farms must use ASC-compliant feed from certified mills. This presents a significant opportunity for U.S. producers looking to be part of the sector’s transformation.

The Council confirmed that the number of certified farms grew by 10% and ASC-labelled products by 12% in 2024, with an upsurge of 32% in sales of seafood carrying the ecolabel.

Furthermore, BioMar achieved less than a month ago, France's first ASC-certified aquaculture feed facility. The company said the recognition strengthens its ability to supply ASC-conforming feed across species and regions in the West Mediterranean and Africa.
