Coast Seafood presented its 2025 financial results. Despite the period being characterized by lower volumes and lower salmon prices, the Norwegian seafood supplier stood out for its solid results, allowing it to more than double its pre-tax profits.
Specifically, the group achieved a profit before tax of NOK 124 million, representing a 101.6% increase compared to NOK 61 million the previous year. Net profit reached NOK 91 million in 2025, a 110.7% year-on-year increase compared to NOK 43 million in 2024.
As for Coast Seafood's operating profit, it was NOK 140 million, 48.2% higher than the NOK 95 million of the previous year. Finally, operating revenue was NOK 7.3 billion in 2025, down from NOK 7.9 billion in 2024, representing a decrease of 7.8%.
The exporting company explained that this decrease was due, as mentioned above, to a combination of lower sales volumes and lower market prices.
In contrast, Coast Seafood stated that the improvement in the rest of its results is a consequence of a deliberate strategy of prioritizing the group's most profitable business areas, rather than focusing solely on sales volume.
"The strong 2025 result demonstrates the Coast team's ability to navigate change and market turbulence," highlighted the CEO of Coast Seafood, Sverre Søraa.
"By increasing our focus on higher-margin processed products, we have improved profitability during a period of lower volumes and lower salmon prices. Coast is now a full-service seafood supplier capable of meeting customer demands globally while strengthening the competitiveness of Norwegian seafood," he added.
In its release on the 2025 results, Coast Seafood—which also emphasized that it maintains a solid financial position, with an equity ratio of 43%—reflected on the "significant change" that is currently taking place in the seafood industry, which, it noted, is characterized by increasing consolidation within the aquaculture sector, where medium and large companies continue to strengthen their market positions.
The sale of Grieg Seafood's operations in Finnmark and Canada to Cermaq, Mowi's acquisition of Nova Sea, Nordic Halibut's agreement to acquire 100% of Pure Norwegian Seafood, or the agreement reached between SalMar and Måsøval for the former to acquire a 70% stake in the latter, are just some examples in the most recent months.
In Coast Seafood's view, this scenario reinforces the need to generate clear value throughout the entire supply chain as well as to promote more targeted and innovative market development. For this reason, it continues to strengthen its role as an active value creator and business partner, with a special emphasis on differentiation, product development and adaptation to different markets and species.
It explained that a key element of that strategy is continued investment in processed and consumer-friendly products, including ready-to-eat solutions such as prepared meals and portioned products targeted at the retail and convenience distribution segments.
The Norwegian global seafood exporter claimed that in this way, it is helping to increase customer value, strengthen market positioning, and improve flexibility in response to changing consumer preferences and distribution channels.
The ultimate goal of Coast Seafood—which sources raw materials from both the aquaculture and fisheries sectors to later transform them into high-quality seafood products—is to progressively increase the share of processed products in the group's overall portfolio.
To achieve this, it established a strategy some time ago to expand its presence in the entire seafood value chain, which led, for example, to the acquisition of Vega Salmon—headquartered in Kolding, Denmark, but with its main processing facility in Handewitt, Germany, near the Danish border—more than three years ago.
Headquartered in Måløy, Norway, and with nearly 900 employees, the group operates companies across the seafood value chain, leveraging its expertise in purchasing, processing, sales, marketing, and logistics, a comprehensive approach that allows Coast Seafood to have a presence in key markets, including Europe, Asia and North America.
