Salmones Camanchaca S.A. experienced a strong fourth quarter in 2024, with revenues reaching USD 121 million, 27% higher than the same period in 2023. Annual revenues grew by 14%, totaling USD 405 million, doubling Coho sales and 15% higher in Atlantic salmon.
This happened too during the third quarter of 2024, when its accumulated revenue grew by 10%, reaching USD 284 million, primarily driven by a 22% increase in sales volume.
The salmon producer detailed that Atlantic harvests were 56% higher than in Q4 2023, while Coho harvests were 63% lower. All of this occurred despite a 6% drop in Atlantic prices and a 16% decline in Coho prices.
"This reinforces the impulse to continue working on these focuses in the future, offsetting higher costs that have arisen due to regulatory restrictions or oceanic conditions. Unlike 2024, we see a slight recovery in prices in 2025 and we estimate a growth of close to 10% in our harvests," expressed Vice Chairman Ricardo García Holtz.
Additionally, EBITDA for the quarter was USD 20.9 million, compared to USD 0.9 million in Q4 2023 and accumulated EBITDA as of December reached USD 49.1 million, higher than the USD 33.5 million recorded in 2023.
The quarterly cost of harvested Atlantic salmon was 11% lower than in Q4 2023 due to the recovery of harvest weight, good sanitary conditions at the harvested sites, and a decrease in feed costs. As a result, the accumulated ex-cage costs in 2024 were lower than those in 2023.
Despite this scenario and the potential of Chilean salmon to position itself as one of the most sustainable foods, García warned about the concerning stagnation of the national industry and the lack of a national public policy to achieve a progressive and developed industry.
