The Argentine company specializing in toothfish fisheries, Pesantar, which has Newsan and Profand as its main shareholders, has announced the construction of a "state-of-the-art" freezer trawler.
The vessel, which will catch toothfish and other species in Argentine and adjacent waters, will be designed and built by the Spanish shipyard Nodosa, which has already delivered technologically advanced vessels of this type.
Therefore, Pesantar will bring innovation to the national fishing fleet, improve its operational efficiency, and increase the company's production capacity.
Furthermore, significant production optimization is expected, increasing the catch of other species and annual exports by 15% thanks to the operational efficiency of the new vessel.
The vessel will feature more efficient machinery, and energy recovery systems that will reduce fuel consumption. Its optimized design will also accommodate various fishing gears for more targeted species capture.
The project includes a fishmeal plant and an advanced freezing system that will diversify the company's products, with better utilization of the captured fish.
Thanks to these innovations, operational days will increase, product quality will improve, operational costs will decrease, and the carbon footprint will be reduced.
The new vessel, which will be delivered in April 2027 and will be 85 meters, will replace the B/P Echizen Maru. It will meet the highest safety and comfort standards, complying with international regulations that will ensure the crew's safety.
