Visscher Seafood Group is changing its name to Norwegian Seafood, bringing all its businesses under one shared identity.
The move follows the company’s 2023 acquisition of Norwegian Seafood AS, and reflects its growing focus on Norwegian-sourced products, the company indicated in a news release.
CEO Tim Brouwer said the decision came naturally as the company’s ties to Norway have strengthened.
“We were fortunate to inherit the Norwegian Seafood name through our 2023 acquisition," said Brouwer.
"Our Norwegian division now represents over 60% of our total revenue, and for our group more than 90% of our raw material is sourced from Norway. This feels like the perfect moment to adopt this powerful name company-wide," he explained.
"This step marks an important milestone in our goal to create one unified, strong company with a clear identity and purpose, providing clarity and synergy across our operations," Brouwer added.
The new name will be rolled out across all subsidiaries and operations, marking a fresh chapter for the company as it continues to grow under the Norwegian Seafood banner.
While the corporate name is changing, Brouwer confirmed that the Visscher brand will remain active as part of the company's brand portfolio, continuing to represent a valued and recognizable product line.
The group is one of the major processors and distributors of farmed salmon and whitefish from the North Atlantic. In 2023, the Visscher Seafood Group acquired the trading activities of Norway Royal Salmon (NRS) from SalMar, following which the export company was rebranded to Norwegian Seafood AS.
