Stolt Sea Farm (SSF) has become the only farmed turbot producer in the world to obtain Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification for all its farms.

Back in 2024, SSF's facility in Øye, Norway, achieved its first ASC certification. Subsequently, audits were carried out at SSF's eight other turbot farms in Spain and Portugal, ultimately resulting in full certification across all operations.

This distinction was granted on Tuesday, May 6, at the Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. In addition, ASC formally launched its new Farm Standard in a special event at the world's largest seafood trade fair.

During the ceremony, ASC CEO Chris Ninnes highlighted: "By becoming the world's first turbot producer to fully certify all its farms, Stolt Sea Farm isn't just meeting the highest standards—they're helping to transform the industry for the better."

Additionally, Jordi Trias, President of Stolt Sea Farm, said: "I want to extend my gratitude to the Stolt Sea Farm team who have made this possible. It requires perseverance, commitment to quality and animal welfare, and teamwork, and these are all characteristics of the way we live our purpose."

Finally, Berta Fernandez, SSF's Food Safety, Quality and Environment Manager, expressed: "This is a fantastic achievement and a great example of the commitment of the whole team to sustainable operations and fish welfare and to ensuring future generations continue to enjoy wonderful seafood."
