Mat-Kuling to install world's largest prefabricated degassing tower at Arctic Seafarm

The Arctic Seafarm plant in Nesna, Norway, is a large land-based fish farm and is currently in an advanced construction phase.
The project includes 57 degassing towers with diameters ranging from 3.6 meters to 4.2 meters and tower heights between 5.2 m and 6.8 m.

MAT-KULING has started work at Arctic Seafarm, located in the municipality of Nesna on the northern coast of Norway, to install the world's largest prefabricated degassing tower for a land-based hybrid flow-through plant.

The project, in collaboration with Norwegian technology provider Eyvi, includes 57 degassing towers with diameters ranging from 3.6 to 4.2 meters and heights from 5.2 to 6.8 meters.

This design will treat approximately 55,000 m³ of seawater per hour, aiming to efficiently remove carbon dioxide (CO₂) and nitrogen (N₂). This will improve water quality and fish well-being, and reduce stress in salmon, helping their growth and health.

It also combines atmospheric and vacuum degassing solutions, equipped with automatic cleaning systems to ensure stable operation and reduced maintenance.

Due to the size of the structures, a modular prefabrication system will be used. The components will first be manufactured at MAT-KULING's factory, while final assembly, sheet metal bending, and welding will be carried out at Arctic Seafarm.

The Arctic Seafarm plant in Nesna is a large and advanced land-based fish farm. It is designed to raise salmon using a flow-through system with water treatment and filtration, and is currently in an advanced construction phase, with equipment being installed on site.

In March, Norwegian supplier of tailored IT solutions Nordlo announced it had entered into an agreement with Arctic Seafarm to deliver IT infrastructure and operations.

"This project is a good example of how prefabricated and modular solutions enable the installation of very large water treatment systems directly on site. It is expected that Arctic Seafarm Nesna will be among the most efficient of its kind, and it will be an important reference for our further investment in the aquaculture industry," said spokesperson for MAT-KULING, Bjørn Dørum.
