Optimar has entered into three agreements worth NOK 70 million with Icelandic seafood company Samherji to supply equipment for its land-based salmon project, Salmon Garden.

Salmon Garden is a large-scale project focused on sustainable land-based aquaculture in Iceland. It is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to 40,000 tonnes of salmon.

The collaboration includes an automated washing system for tanks and pipe infrastructure, designed to ensure efficient and controlled cleaning processes, reduce manual work, and support high biosecurity standards.

In addition, Optimar will supply a complete ensilage system for the safe and compliant handling of dead fish. Finally, the third contract includes a full stun and bleed system.

Regarding this, Sales Manager in Optimar, Espen Rørvik, said: "These contracts demonstrate the breadth of what we can deliver within aquaculture. We are proud to support Samherji with integrated solutions that cover several critical parts of the value chain."

Moreover, Magne Bjørge, also Sales Manager at Optimar, noted: "This is only the beginning. The project is massive, and we will continue our close collaboration with Samherji in the years to come."

A few weeks ago, ACEL Group confirmed its participation as the electrical integrator in the first phase of the Salmon Garden project. This land-based aquaculture project, whose objective is to produce salmon using closed systems on land instead of sea cages, will include engineering, material supply, and on-site electrical works carried out by the Norwegian Group.

Furthermore, Optimar has introduced its new fully integrated flow-through wastewater treatment system, called OptiFlow™, that will promote the sustainable production of seafood.
