The Smir Group has signed a contract with Andfjord Salmon to supply its waterborne feeding system, Smirfeeder™, to their land-based facilities in Andøya. The Group is confident this is the first step toward future collaborations with the Norwegian land-based salmon farming company.
Regarding this agreement, Sales Manager at Smir Group Frode Rygh said: "Andfjord Salmon aims to build and operate the world’s most sustainable aquaculture facility, and we are delighted to contribute to their achievement of this goal with our waterborne feeding system."
Through a statement released on its website, COO Christian Torgersen expressed "great satisfaction" with the deal and emphasized the importance of finding a feeding method suited to their concept and chosen feed.
Furthermore, the statement informs about a collaboration between Smir and Skretting to shape pellets and future nutrition content while working on energy consumption, microplastics, and infrastructure positive effects.
Smirfeeder™ is a waterborne feeding system designed for efficient and gentle transport of feed between silos and aquaculture tanks. It can be used for both, standard sinking pellets, as well as for the future use of floating pellets.
