Iceland Seafood International (ISI) announced the appointment of Alda Björk Óskarsdóttir as Chief Financial Officer of ISI Group. According to the company's release, the new CFO is a certified accountant with wide experience in financial management, accounting, and auditing.

In addition, Alda Björk Óskarsdóttirof holds an MSc degree in accounting and international business from Reykjavík University and a BA degree in psychology from the University of Iceland. She replaces Reynir Jónsson who has held the position for the past ten years.

Óskarsdóttirof joins Iceland Seafood International from Treble Technologies, a leading software company developing innovative solutions for the acoustic industry. She previously worked as a controller at Sidekick Health and as an auditor at Grant Thornton and PWC.

With no previous experience in the seafood industry, on her LinkedIn profile, ISI's new CFO nevertheless states that she has solid experience in new business development. "I have helped constructing a business plan and been responsible for financial planning and analysis," explains Óskarsdóttirof, who also declares that she is always eager to learn new skills, explore new opportunities, and face new challenges.

This appointment is undoubtedly a dare, as she comes to Iceland Seafood at a challenging time for the company. Although it managed to close Q4 in the black, 2023 was a difficult year for ISI, as the company itself acknowledged in its latest earnings report.

Alda Björk Óskarsdóttir's appointment is the second in the ISI's management team in recent months. Current CEO, Ægir Páll Friðbertsson, was appointed last September to replace Bjarni Ármannsson, and as of March 2024, following the retirement of Bjarni Benediktsson, he will also assume the position of MD of IS Iceland, taking on a dual role within the company.
