Benchmark Genetics announced this week the appointment of Bruno Decock as its new Global Commercial Director for Genetics Services. The company, which highlighted that he brings years of expertise to his new role, has promoted his current Head of Benchmark Genetics Shrimp, a position he will also continue in as part of a transition period.
In the statement on its LinkedIn page announcing the appointment, Benchmark Genetics highlighted that Decock brings more than 25 years of experience in aquaculture, including extensive work in shrimp breeding, hatchery systems, and international business development in Asia and Africa.
"Since joining Benchmark Genetics in 2017, he has held several key roles within our shrimp genetics business," the announcement read.
Indeed, his LinkedIn profile shows that Bruno Decock joined Benchmark Genetics in 2017 as Operations Manager for Shrimp Breeding in Asia, a position he held for just over six years. He then became Business Development Manager for INVE Aquaculture, the advanced nutrition and health division for fish and shrimp of Benchmark Holdings, a role he held for just over a year, until he was appointed Head of Benchmark Genetics Shrimp in January 2025.
Now, in his new position as Global Commercial Director for Genetics Services, Decock will lead the global commercial development of the company's Genetics Services portfolio, supporting Benchmark Genetics' strategy to expand advanced breeding, genomics and analytical services for aquaculture producers worldwide.
The company also said that he will maintain his base in Asia, one of the company's key growth regions, especially after the thorough review of its portfolio and long-term priorities since it became an independent entity within Novo Holdings' investment portfolio in March 2025, which has led it to wind down its commercial shrimp operations in the U.S. this same month.
From there, Bruno Decock will work closely with customers and partners globally to develop long-term collaborations and deliver integrated genetic solutions that support sustainable production and measurable performance improvement.
Decock's appointment added to others Benchmark Genetics has been announcing in recent months, such as the strengthening of its finance team in August; the designation of Kristian Botnen as new CEO in September; the election of the new Board of Directors with Tor Vikenes at the helm in November; or, more recently, Dr Andrew Preston's appointment as new Head of Product Development.
