Certified Seafood International (CSI)
The organization offering ecological certification programs for seafood, Certified Seafood International (CSI), has announced two new additions to its Board of Directors.
Klaus Nielsen and Sally Roach are two renowned leaders with extensive experience in the fish and seafood sector. Nielsen was Espersen's CEO for almost 25 years before his retirement last year, and Roach is a Senior Manager for International Sustainability at the ALDI SOUTH Group.
"CSI is thrilled to welcome Klaus Nielsen and Sally Roach to our Board of Directors. Their diverse expertise and deep industry insights will significantly enhance our efforts towards responsible sourcing and sustainable, market-led supply chain improvements," said Mike Kraft, Executive Director of CSI.
Regarding her appointment, Roach expressed: "Third-party certification is an important tool for seafood buyers, and I look forward to working as a CSI Board Member to help advance credible choice in the certification of wild capture fisheries."
Finally, Nielsen detailed: "What drew me to CSI is its commitment to keeping certification practical and cost-effective, without compromising on rigour. Their structure is focused on covering the actual costs of running a credible certification system – nothing more. That’s the kind of approach markets desire."
In April, CSI presented a new wild-capture fisheries certification. Through greater accessibility, effectiveness, and ecological focus, the new distinction expands access to high-performing fisheries and promotes greater transparency about the seafood we consume.
