The global tilapia farming giant Regal Springs has appointed Elena Piana as its Group Sustainability Manager. She is succeeding Benjamin Weis, who recently left the role to join Cargill.

In 2021, Piana founded NoolaRed in England, an aquaculture company that managed the UK's first red claw crayfish farm – operating in an indoor recirculating aquaculture system (RAS).

Later, she expanded her operations to Central Java and Jakarta, Indonesia, where the company now serves the local export markets.

In addition, she worked as an aquaculture and fisheries sustainability professional for Seafresh Group and assistant hatchery manager for trout at Dawnfresh Seafood.

Regarding her hiring, the new Group Sustainability Manager posted on her LinkedIn profile: "Over the past four years, building and growing my aquaculture company NoolaRed has been an incredibly challenging and fulfilling journey."

"Now, equipped with this wealth of experience, I am excited to leverage it for greater impact. I am delighted to announce that I will be taking on the role of Global Sustainability Manager at Regal Springs," she added.

Just a month ago, Regal Springs launched "Natural Additions", a business unit devoted to fish by-products and committed to utilizing 100% of the fish the company produces.
