Danish supplier and distributor of frozen fish and seafood Kangamiut Seafood announced earlier this week that former Espersen CEO, Klaus Beyer Nielsen, is its new Chair of the Board, as well as a member of the Kangamiut Group Board of Directors. These new positions are in addition to those he already holds in the Board of Directors of three other companies.
Following his departure from Espersen, Klaus Beyer Nielsen has focused on roles as non-executive Board Member, and is currently Chairman of DSI Dantech Group, Chairman of Beck Pack Systems A/S, and Chairman of Bornholmerslagteren ApS.
In this new office, he replaces Birger Brix - who will remain as a member of the Board of Directors of Kangamiut Seafood and Kangamiut Group until the General Assembly to be held in the second quarter of 2025 -. Nielsen comes to the company at a key moment following the merger of its three subsidiaries announced last week.
"We are very happy to announce that Klaus Beyer Nielsen has accepted the role as Chair of the Board of Directors of Kangamiut Seafood A/S as well as member of the Board of Directors of the Kangamiut Group A/S as of 3 February 2025," the company said in a release commenting on the appointment.
"The strengthening of the Kangamiut Seafood Board of Directors comes at a perfect time as we last week announced our plans to merger three main Kangamiut Group subsidiaries, Northcoast Seafoods DK A/S, DanSea Nordic A/S, and Kangamiut Seafood A/S into one strong unit under the leadership of Rasmus Grønborg Bak, and continuing under the name of Kangamiut Seafood A/S," the company added in a post published on LinkedIn.
A well-known name in the sector, prior to his resignation last summer, Klaus Beyer Nielsen spent 37 years at the Danish value-added producer Espersen, almost 25 of them as CEO, which established him as a global leader in the seafood industry.
Moreover, in addition to his current positions on the various Boards mentioned above, his experience also includes 13 years as Chair of the International Groundfish Forum Fisheries Limited (IGFL), a leading organization within the global seafood industry that is a meeting place for leading members of the groundfish business worldwide.
Finally, the company's statement on the appointment of Klaus Beyer Nielsen as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kangamiut Seafood summarizes his career as follows: "His contributions to the industry are no less than extraordinary."
