Gordon Ritchie, former Group Manager of Fish Health & Welfare at Mowi AS, has returned to Nutreco to become Global Product Manager for Salmon Health, Skretting, the aquaculture business line of Nutreco, confirms on its LinkedIn profile.
Ritchie worked at the global leader in animal nutrition and aquafeed as a fish health researcher and then as Fish Health Technical Manager until 2007.
Finally, he moved to Mowi to serve as Vice President of Fish Health until 2012. At this company, he held the position of Group Manager of Fish Health & Welfare, which allowed him to oversee fish health research in the R&D and Technical departments.
"It's his second day on the job, but Gordon has already started on some exciting projects. We can't reveal more at this point, but what we can say is 'Welcome home!" the publication reads.
Nutreco announced in July 2024 that it had completed the construction of the world's first dedicated food-grade powder production facility for cell feed in Boxmeer, The Netherlands.
According to an IFFO study, there is an "urgent need" for greater volumes of new protein sources for aquafeed. Specifically, new resources for feed need to be created that are not already part of the human food production system.
