Grieg Seafood's Chief Strategy Officer and Global QA Manager announced their departure

They did so just a fortnight after Andreas Kvame, CEO of Grieg Seafood, stepped down after ten years at the helm of the company.

Shortly before the start of the Easter vacations, Grieg Seafood's Chief Strategy Director, Nina Stangeland, and Global Quality Assurance Director, Martin Mjos-Haugland, announced their departure from the Norwegian seafood giant.

Both did so through posts published on their respective LinkedIn profiles in which they wished Grieg Seafood luck in what is to come, and said goodbye to their colleagues, thanking them for their time at the company.

It has been just over a year and a half in the case of Stangeland, who, after her appointment was announced in May 2025, came to the position in September of the same year to advance the company's corporate strategy, and just over four years in the case of Mjos-Haugland.

"I am wrapping up an exciting and rewarding time at Grieg Seafood," the outgoing Chief Strategy Officer said. "I am grateful for all the talented colleagues I have had the pleasure of working with and for the valuable experiences and lessons I will carry with me on my journey going forward. I believe that when one door closes, another opens – and I look forward to exploring what the future will bring," Nina Stangeland added.

"Saying goodbye to good colleagues is never easy, and I find it particularly hard to leave all the fantastic people at Grieg Seafood I've worked with over the last four years," Martin Mjos-Haugland wrote for his part. "I've been fortunate to have a role where I've been allowed to meet and work with people from all levels, locations and functions across," the hitherto Global QA Manager also said.

Neither has given details about the circumstances of their departure from the company, nor has either said whether they have a new position in prospect. As mentioned, the news of their departure comes just over a fortnight after we learned that Grieg's CEO, Andreas Kvame, was stepping down.

The leadership change came as the Norwegian seafood giant advances its "financial transformation" program, which Kvame launched in February following disastrous 2024 results, which saw a vertiginous drop in EBIT of almost 99%.

In announcing Kvame's departure, the company also announced that Nina Willumsen Grieg, Regional Director of Grieg Seafood Rogaland, had been appointed interim CEO while a replacement for her predecessor is found.

Precisely, Nina Stangeland had a few words for Willumsen in her farewell message. "I'm cheering 110% for Grieg Seafood team with the talented Nina Willumsen Grieg leading the way forward, and I look forward to following your journey from the sidelines!" the outgoing Chief Strategy Officer wrote.
