Kristin Hollung has a Master of Science in Biotechnology from the University of Oslo.
Nofima has announced the appointment of Kristin Hollung as the new Director of its Food Division. She previously served as Research Manager of the Food and Health Department, and since April 2025 has held the position of Acting Division Director.
The Food Division works to provide the Norwegian market with more sustainable, healthy, and safe food, and is made up of four departments that focus on different aspects of food development and research.
For example, the Norwegian food research institute recently presented a new study on how to manage and utilize the increasing appearance of new marine species in Norwegian waters due to climate change.
Hollung is also Chair of the industrial cluster Future Food and Food Grain Partnership, a board member of the Portfolio Board for Enabling Technologies at the Research Council of Norway, and has participated in the Transition and Accelerator programs of the EIC in the European Union.
Regarding her appointment, she said: "I am proud of the trust I have received, and look forward to leading a team that will contribute to more sustainable, healthy, and safe food for the future. We will continue to deliver research that is relevant to the industry and society and contribute to increased value creation for small and large Norwegian food producers."
Additionally, Nofima CEO Bente Torstensen expressed: "We are very pleased that Kristin has accepted the position as divisional director. She has already demonstrated her skills as an acting leader, and her broad experience from research, collaboration with the land-based food industry, management, and board positions make her the right person for the job."
