In a statement to the Oslo Stock Exchange issued last Friday at ten o'clock at night, Mowi announced that on that same day, February 27, 2026, Ørjan Svanevik had resigned from his position as Chair of the Board.

In its release, the salmon giant clarified that the resignation as Chair of the Board is the result of Svanevik's termination of his employment with Seatankers Management, an associated company of Geveran Trading Co. Ltd., Mowi's majority owner.

Based in Cyprus, Geveran Trading Co. Ltd. is an investment company owned by Norwegian-born billionaire shipping magnate John Fredriksen, which, according to Mowi's website, owns 15.18% of its shares.

Svanevik, who, on his LinkedIn profile, describes himself as an executive and board leader with more than 30 years of value creation and active ownership across asset‑heavy industries, financial services and technology‑enabled businesses—including salmon farming, shipping, energy, banking/NPLs, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and software as a service (SaaS)—, held the chairmanship of Mowi's Board since August 2024, coinciding with his arrival at Seatankers Management.

In announcing he was stepping down, Mowi stated that the nomination committee had been informed of Ørjan Svanevik's resignation and thanked him for his service. The salmon giant added that the remaining Board members would constitute a quorum, and the Vice Chair of the Board, Leif Teksum, would take the position as Intermediate Chair.

Regarding Leif Teksum, Mowi highlighted that he has been a member of the Board since 2024—joining in May, three months before the outgoing Chairman—and has a distinguished track record and extensive experience as a board member and executive.

Teksum has over 30 years of experience at DNB, where, among other responsibilities, he was in charge of the seafood sector for a period. He also has experience on the boards of directors of, among others, Yara International, Selvaag Gruppen, Nordic Trustee, and Rana Gruber.

On his LinkedIn profile, Leif Teksum states that in his work as an advisor, he focuses particularly on strategy development, executive management, governance issues, roles and responsibilities between owners, the board and management, as well as compliance matters.

Mowi presented its Q4 and FY 2025 results report in mid-February, announcing record revenues of EUR 1.59 billion and operating EBIT of EUR 213 million in the last quarter of last year. The Norwegian headquartered salmon farmer thus closed 2025 having once again set a series of new records, both in the fourth quarter and for the full year.
