With the start of July, Charlotte Asserson also began a new stage in her career by joining the Norwegian environmental services company Aqua Kompetanse as a Senior Fish Health Biologist.
In a post on her LinkedIn profile, the former Bremnes Seashore employee commented that, after nine years at the salmon farming company, where she had the opportunity to grow and learn from colleagues who taught her "a great deal about operations and practical decision-making," now it was time for her to take the next step.
Among the numerous comments under her post announcing the change, the one from the CEO of her now-former company, Linda Litlekalsøy Aase, stood out. "Thanks for the great work you've done for us, Charlotte, and the best of luck!" she wrote.
Asserson joined Bremnes Seashore in 2017 and, although she has changed positions several times since her arrival, she has applied her expertise as a fish health biologist in all of them.
Previously, she had worked for other salmon farming companies such as Bolaks and Marine Harvest (formerly Mowi), as well as for public institutions including the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research (IMR).
"Now I'm taking that experience with me to Aqua Kompetanse, and I'm looking forward to continuing to work with fish health, albeit from a slightly different perspective," Charlotte Asserson wrote in her post.
Aqua Kompetanse's new Senior Fish Health Biologist will join the team of veterinarians, biologists, and oceanographers, who, together with other specialists in aquaculture and fish health, conduct all types of surveys in both marine and freshwater environments.
Founded in June 2000, Aqua Kompetanse—part of the Bluefront Equity portfolio—is one of Norway's leading ocean health auditors and providers of environmental advisory and fish health services to the aquaculture industry. It currently has offices in Stavanger, Bergen, Flatanger, Namsos, Rørvik, Sandnessjøen, and Tromsø.
The company offers environmental studies, impact assessments, health inspections at fish farms and hatcheries, inspections of live fish transport vessels, current measurements, and evaluations of new aquaculture sites. In addition, it also conducts fjord monitoring, seabed mapping, and wastewater treatment plant assessments.
