EW Nutrition, a global provider of animal gut health, feed quality, and digestibility solutions, headquartered in northern Germany, announced yesterday the appointment of Benedict Standen as Global Business Development Manager Aqua as part of its growth strategy for its aquaculture additives portfolio.
Standen, who holds a Master's in Marine Biology and a PhD in Feed Additives in Aquaculture and brings more than 10 years of experience in the sector, joins the company this September. According to the release, he does so "with an open agenda and a lot of curiosity."
A subsidiary of EW Group—one of the world's leading agricultural companies—EW Nutrition said that Standen's appointment is part of the growth strategy for its aquaculture additives portfolio.
Following the acquisition of Green Innovation in early 2025, the German company is undertaking an ambitious expansion and targets global launches of Oxilem Blue and other innovative nutritional solutions to control pathogens, prevent oxidation, and improve production performance in commercial fish and shrimp.
EW Group already showed its interest in expanding its aquaculture business a couple of years ago when its subsidiary Blue Future Holding, a seafood investment company, became the sole owner of Norwegian aquatech firm GreenFox Marine, whose technology enables gender sorting of salmon smolt, plus other applications for fish welfare and efficiency in aquaculture operations.
Now, commenting on Standen's appointment, Jan Vanbrabant, CEO of EW Nutrition, said that he is the perfect profile and temperament for this position. "He is open, inquisitive, and unbelievably knowledgeable, with both scientific and applied field expertise in a domain that is a growth target for EW Nutrition," Vanbrabant stated.
"I am absolutely convinced that we have a winning manager for a winning portfolio. EW Nutrition is extremely happy to have him on board," added Danièle Marzin, Director of Product Management.
For his part, the new Global Business Development Manager Aqua stated that he has come to the position well aware of EW Nutrition's growth in the last years. "I want to bring my expertise into play and help expand our reach in aqua, where we can do much more to support our partners," Benedict Standen said.
