Pablo Mazo has taken over as CEO of Benchmark Genetics Salten, after serving as interim CEO for a period, the Norwegian division confirmed through a statement.
Her predecessor is Ann-Kristin Skaugvold, who is leaving the position due to health reasons and will step into a new role as Senior Advisor. "Her experience and insight will continue to be a great resource for us," the company states.
Previously, Mazo was General Manager of Benchmark Genetics Chile and, more recently, Performance and Documentation Manager at Benchmark Genetics Norway. He has experience in genetics and breeding, hatchery production, and planning.
Before working at Benchmark, the new CEO worked at Ventisqueros and AquaChile, as well as in the technical department of the Chilean Aquaculture Association, SalmonChile (INTESAL).
"Very happy and proud to join the great team we have at Benchmark Genetics Salten! Exited for continuing supplying our customers with the best quality salmon eggs!" reads Mazo's LinkedIn publication.
In late November, we learned about the sale of Benchmark Genetics business to Danish investor Novo Holdings. The latter will acquire the former for an enterprise value of up to GBP 260 million (EUR 311.4 million / USD 327.3 million).
This transaction is aligned with its Planetary Health Investments team's strategic focus on aquaculture technology to drive growth, innovation, and sustainability, and it complements the recent investment in sea lice laser firm Stingray Marine Solutions.
