Optimar has announced several key appointments to its global commercial organization, underscoring its growth ambitions and its commitment to maintaining a leading position in the global seafood industry.
The aquaculture technology provider has appointed Petur Jakob Petursson as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Lárus Gunnarsson as Director of Commercial Operations (DCO). Also, Jannicke Valderhaug takes on the role of Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Petursson joined Optimar in September 2024 as Sales Director for Asia and brings over 20 years of experience working in the fisheries, seafood processing and aquaculture industries, along with extensive experience in international B2B sales.
"The seafood industry is evolving rapidly, and our customers expect partners who understand the bigger picture. By strengthening our commercial organization, we are better positioned to support customers with integrated solutions across the entire value chain," he said.
Meanwhile, Gunnarsson will lead the development of Optimar's commercial operations. Previously, he served as Director of Business Development and Product Management at the Icelandic telecommunications company Síminn.
"Optimar holds a unique position in the industry, combining strong process expertise with a broad range of technologies and services. I look forward to helping the company grow its global presence," said the new DCO.
Finally, as CMO, Valderhaug will lead the continued development of the Optimar brand and strengthen the company’s global marketing efforts.
Regarding these updates, CEO Siggi Ólason added: "We are building a stronger commercial organization to support our long-term growth ambitions. With Petur, Lárus and Jannicke in these key positions, we are combining industry expertise, commercial excellence and brand development to create even greater value for our customers worldwide."
