Chilean salmon farming giant Salmones Camanchaca announced today that Daniel Undurraga has been appointed as its new Freshwater Production Manager. The appointment brings a promotion for Undurraga, who has been serving as the company's Assistant Manager of Primary Logistics since 2023.

A Civil Industrial Engineer from the Universidad de los Andes, Salmones Camanchaca's new Freshwater Production Manager also holds an MBA from the ESE Business School, and has experience in logistics, operations, and strategic management.

Of his career within the company, the Chilean salmon farmer said that Undurraga has already stood out for his leadership, coordination capacity, and results orientation.

This was also noted by the company's Farming Manager, Pablo Albistur. "Daniel has proven to be a leader with great work capacity and a strong commitment to excellence and collaborative work," he said.

"We are confident that his leadership will be key to continue strengthening our Freshwater operation, with a comprehensive and sustainable approach, orienting its strategy towards people, safety, environment, and the relationship with neighboring communities," Salmones Camanchaca's Farming Manager added.

As Albistur himself told WeAreAquaculture in his TalentView, this concern for the surrounding communities is part of the culture of Camanchaca, the parent company of Salmones Camanchaca.

Takes over from Hugo Cajas, a veteran in the company

Commenting on his appointment, Undurraga said he assumes this challenge "with enthusiasm and responsibility, with the aim of contributing to the consolidation of an efficient, innovative operation aligned with Camanchaca's values."

"I am proud to continue the solid work done in recent years and to join a team with great experience and trajectory, from which I hope to continue learning. I am convinced that, together, we will be able to continue improving our processes and developing constructive relationships with the environment," the new Freshwater Production Manager added.

As mentioned above, in his new role, Daniel Undurraga will lead the freshwater production of the Salar - Atlantic salmon - and Coho species, being responsible for the Polcura site in Biobío, and the Petrohué River, Río del Este, Río de la Plata, and Playa Maqui sites in Los Lagos.

The notable increase in its Atlantic salmon harvest, as opposed to the non-harvest of Coho salmon, was precisely the highlight of the Q1 2025 results recently reported by Salmones Camanchaca.

Finally, the company noted that the appointment of Daniel Undurraga is part of the closing of a cycle led by Hugo Cajas, whom the company thanked for his commitment and valuable contribution during more than 26 years.

"His knowledge, creativity in finding solutions, and human qualities have been key in the growth of our Company, consolidating processes with operational excellence and building high-performance teams," the company said in a post published in March on its LinkedIn page. "More than a leader, he has been a mentor to many of us, for which we are grateful," Salmones Camanchaca concluded.
