The Norwegian company AquaGen, specialized in aquaculture genetics, has announced the appointment of Tom Eirik Aasjord as the new Group CEO, who will assume the position on January 1, 2026.

Previously, Aasjord was the CEO of Nova Sea, a position he held for nearly six years. Nova Sea announced his resignation after being on medical leave for some time, and subsequently stepped down for personal reasons.

Also, he held various roles at Mainstream Norway and Codfarmers, and has contributed to the development of Nordnorsk Stamfisk, both as CEO and later as Chairman of the Board.

Regarding his appointment, he expressed: "I look forward to becoming part of AquaGen and contributing to the further development of a company with a unique professional position and an important mission. The structure that is now being established gives the group a solid foundation for further growth, and I look forward to working closely with the company's talented employees, as well as the board and owners, to lift AquaGen into the next phase."

According to a statement released by the company, this appointment is part of the restructuring of the AquaGen Group and is intended to strengthen its trajectory, gain further industry experience, and promote additional operational and strategic processes.

A clear example of this is that AquaGen's Scottish subsidiary inaugurated its new freshwater recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) in October, which is designed for the incubation of high-quality Atlantic salmon eggs.

"We are very pleased to have Tom Eirik Aasjord as the new Group CEO. With his values, broad experience from the industry, and clear strategic understanding, he is very well equipped to lead AquaGen forward. The appointment strengthens the group's capacity for innovation and operational management, and gives us a good foundation for the future," concluded Chairman of the Board Odd Magne Rødseth.
