The Ministry of Production (Produce) in Peru has encouraged Regional Governments to update their Regional Aquaculture Plans (PRA) to promote public and private investment, generate employment, and ensure the sustainability of aquaculture resources.

"A well-structured Regional Aquaculture Plan means more jobs, more investment, and a better quality of life for communities. At PRODUCE, we are ready to provide technical assistance and support this process," said Jesús Barrientos, Vice Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Currently, only three regions (Tacna, Madre de Dios, and Huancavelica) have plans that align with the National Aquaculture Policy 2030. Regions that have not started this process risk losing financing opportunities, technical assistance, and planned growth.

Additionally, the public entity offers technical assistance, supporting regional governments in formulating and implementing the PRA.

Finally, Produce offers a team of specialists to provide technical advice at every stage of the process, thus accelerating the implementation of these plans.

"We cannot continue delaying the development of aquaculture in regions with the greatest potential. A PRA is the foundation for transforming this sector into a sustainable source of employment and growth. At PRODUCE, we are ready to work alongside each Regional Government and ensure they make the most of this opportunity," emphasized Barrientos.
